Texas-Pan American 37, Air Force 35

EDINBURG, Texas (AP) Allen Holcomb scored 12 points and Eric Montalvo added eight Monday night as Texas-Pan American defeated Air Force 37-35.

Air Force (18-4) led 30-29 with about five minutes left when Jacob Burtschi was called for a foul and a technical. Texas-Pan American (12-13) hit 3-of-4 free throws and took a 32-30 lead it never lost. Neither team scored in the final 3:13 of the game.

Air Force's Nick Welch, who led the Falcons with 15 points, had a chance to tie the game with 25 seconds left but his jumper rolled around the rim and out. A.J. Kuhle missed a 16-footer with eight seconds left.

Texas-Pan American jumped out to a 10-2 lead after six minutes, but the pace just as quickly slowed and the Broncs had a 19-16 halftime lead.

Texas Pan-American shot 47 percent from the field to 30 percent for Air Force. The Falcons could hit only 4 of 24 3-point attempts.

It was the lowest combined score for Texas-Pan American since the Broncs beat Northern Michigan 30-29 on Jan. 5, 1970.

Air Force's 35 points were its lowest since scoring 33 against BYU last year.
