Georgetown 69, Citadel 34

Presented by Epson

WASHINGTON (AP)_ Brandon Bowman scored 23 points and Georgetown held Citadel to 23 percent shooting to deliver a 69-34 win Friday night, the first for new Hoes coach John Thompson.

After losing Monday night's opener to Temple, the Hoyas (1-1) took all the suspense out of Friday's game early. Georgetown opened the game on a 26-5 run and Bowman's 16 first-half points were still one better than all of the Bulldogs combined.

Citadel (2-1) hit just 10 of 42 from the floor, including a 3 of 19 in the first half, and allowed the Hoyas to tie a school record by making 12 3-pointers.

Bowman, who also grabbed 13 rebounds, made his fifth 3-pointer of the night with 7:57 to play to retake a personal 23-21 scoring advantage, but came out of the game in the final four minutes trailing the Bulldogs by five.

Kevin Hammack scored 14 to lead the Bulldogs, who missed 11 of their first 12 shots.

Ashanti Cook added 14 points for the Hoyas, including four 3-pointers.
