ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) Otis Daniels scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds off the bench as Winthrop defeated North Carolina-Asheville 78-70 on Monday.
Craig Bradshaw had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds and Michael Jenkins scored 13 points off the bench for the Eagles (11-5, 2-1 Big South).
Chad Mohn scored 14 points to lead five players in double-digit scoring for the Bulldogs (3-10, 0-2). K.J. Garland scored 13 points off the bench while Bryan McCullough and Oliver Holmes scored 11 points apiece and Steven Rush tallied 10.
Winthrop led 37-24 at the break behind the shooting of Jenkins, a freshman who connected on three straight 3-pointers in the first half.
The Bulldogs got to within four points at 74-70 with 28 seconds left in the second half. Phillip Williams scored on a dunk and a driving jump shot in the final seconds to secure the win for Winthrop.
