Southern Conference: Top seed Davidson eliminated

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Josh Gross scored 22 points to lead UNC-Greensboro to a 73-68 win over Davidson on Friday night and a berth in the Southern Conference Tournament championship.

Ronnie Burrell added 14 points for the Spartans (18-11), while Ray Bristow finished with 11 and Kyle Hines 10.

Brendan Winters led No. 1 South seed Davidson (21-8), which didn't lose a regular season league game, with 19 points. Ian Johnson added 17.

The Spartans rallied from a 48-40 second half deficit to take a 63-60 lead on a Gross layup with 3:40 left.

Winters later tied the score at 66 with a reverse layup, but a Gross 3-pointer put gave UNC-Greensboro a 69-66 lead it wouldn't relinquish. Full story
