RICHMOND, Va. (AP) Thurman Zimmerman scored 16 and Shawn Wiggins added 15 as South Carolina State defeated Norfolk State 76-59 to advance to the semifinals of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament Thursday evening.

South Carolina State (19-11) will take on Delaware State at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Derrick Davis came off the bench to add 13 for the Bulldogs, who took advantage of 24 Norfolk State fouls, scoring 27 from the charity stripe. Wiggins was perfect from the free-throw line, going 9-for-9.

A 13-4 Bulldog run made it 64-50 with 2:47 left in the game. South Carolina State then sank 10 consecutive free throws to put the game out of reach at 74-55 with 59 seconds remaining. Wiggins sank two more free throws to finish the game.

Tony Murphy led Norfolk State (13-14) with 21 points, Ryan Grier had 11 and Karandick Ogunride had 11 points and 12 rebounds. MEAC player of the year Chakowby Hicks was held to 10 points.
