Seton Hall was a dream, and it was a nice dream, but now the dream is dead.

The once-woeful Pirates went a long way in a short time to get into the NCAA Tournament picture, but four losses in five games -- three of them to NIT (or worse) teams -- means Seton Hall is out. Which means the Big East is down to eight bids.

Elsewhere in this week's NCAA Tournament field: Connecticut overtakes Duke as the No. 1 overall seed. Villanova slips to the fourth No. 1 seed, barely ahead -- but still ahead -- of Texas. And North Carolina, Marquette and LSU continue their ascensions up the seed line.

Which means someone is descending. And you know who you are, N.C. State and Iowa and Michigan.
