Matta agrees to contract extension at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Thad Matta, entering his third year as Ohio State's basketball coach, agreed to a contract extension.

The agreement will not become official until it is approved by the board of trustees, the school said Sunday. Matta has an eight-year deal worth more than $11 million, and terms of the extension were not disclosed.

His record at Ohio State is 46-18. He previously coached at Xavier and Butler.
