IN FOCUS
The Pac-10 schedule in January will be a stiff test to demonstrate whether the Bears can handle pressure defense. Cal is last in the conference in turnovers. UCLA and Oregon apply a lot of on-ball pressure and play solid team defense, especially in the case of the Bruins.
ROSTER REPORT
Duke transfer Jamal Boykin, who had just two points in six minutes in his Cal debut against Utah, played much more relaxed in his second outing. He had 18 points on 8-for-11 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds in 19 minutes.
Junior wing Theo Robertson, sidelined since undergoing microfracture surgery on his hip last April, began full-court workouts for the first time on Dec. 26. The Bears are hoping he can see game action early in the Pac-10 season.
