The bad news is that Centenary concluded the month of January still winless on the season with an 0-23 record.
Worse news? The Gentlemen actually were riding a 28-game losing streak that dated back to the tail end of the 2009-10 campaign. That was the longest current skid among all Division I teams.
The good news? Centenary keeps fighting, as evidenced by its halftime lead against IPFW in their Jan. 27 Summit League meeting. The Mastodons rallied after intermission for a 76-66 victory.
The future seems rather bright for the Gents as well. Three freshmen -- Jonathan Blount, Logan Lowery and Andrew Rebol -- led Centenary in scoring in a 100-70 loss at Oakland on Jan. 29.
With no seniors on the roster and a promising group of rookies, Centenary should have a decent core returning next year.
And, perhaps, a better chance to compete on a level playing field. Centenary drops down to Division III next season.
