Golden Panthers report: Getting inside
When Florida International won two consecutive games in early January, coach Sergio Rouco was convinced his team was finally ready to make a move in the Sun Belt.
Instead, the Golden Panthers went on to lost four straight games and have lost six of their past seven.
Florida International added two more to the list with a 64-50 loss at Denver on Jan. 31 and a 60-57 loss at North Texas on Feb. 2.
Florida International (6-15, 3-8 in the Sun Belt) is well on its way to its eighth straight losing season and its ninth since joining the Sun Belt in 1998-99. Without a late surge, the Golden Panthers also appear to be headed for their fourth consecutive losing under coach Sergio Rouco.
The Golden Panthers have shown some progress with the addition of Kansas transfer Alex Galindo and Pepperdine transfer Russell Hicks the past two seasons, but they continue to struggle to score from the perimeter and enter a Feb. 6 home game against Louisiana-Lafayette ranked 12th in the Sun Belt with 65 points per game.
