Gators report: Notes, quotes
THE GOOD NEWS
The Gators have four potential returning starters plus the bulk of their bench returning. Guard Matt Walsh is one of the SEC's premier shooting guards, and forward Corey Brewer finished strong, scoring in double figures in three of his last five games. He shot 51 percent from the field for the season. Walsh shot nearly 43 percent from three-point range in averaging 14.6 ppg. Guard Anthony Roberson, who led the team with a 17.5 ppg average, is mulling over a move to the NBA.
THE BAD NEWS
The Gators seemed to overcome their image as a "soft" team with their play down the stretch, but the guy who provided most of the muscle was senior forward David Lee. Without him, the Gators could revert to form unless sophomore Chris Richard steps in to give center Al Horford support in the middle.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"I have a different feeling. These kids gave me everything they had this year. We were beaten by a better team. I thought Villanova was terrific." -- Coach Billy Donovan, comparing the Gators' loss to Villanova to previous NCAA defeats.
