KEY RETURNEES
Guard Anthony Roberson led the SEC in scoring and though he was entertaining thoughts of entering the NBA draft, he may want to reconsider following two miserable shooting performances in the NCAA tourney (4-of-23). Matt Walsh also returns to give the Gators a top perimeter game. Freshman forward Corey Brewer began to emerge as a star in season's stretch run, and freshman Al Horford is a fourth potential returning starter.

THE COACH
Billy Donovan has the Gators on an unprecedented run of seven consecutive NCAA appearances and the only Final Four berth in the school's history, not to mention the Gators' only SEC tournament championship. But the recent early exits -- five losses in either the first or second round of the NCAA -- has raised some questions about the Gators' toughness. He's in no danger of being fired, but as one of the country's highest-paid coaches, Donovan has got to get the Gators deeper into March. His overall record at Florida is 193-92 (88-56 SEC). Add the two years he spent at Marshall and Donovan is 228-112.

ROSTER REPORT
The Gators signed three prospects last November, all from the state of Florida. They were 6-10 forward/center Jimmy Sutton from Boca Raton, 6-5 guard David Huertas and 6-4 guard Derwin Kitchen, both of Jacksonville.

-- Senior David Lee continued his workhorse play in Florida's closing run. He scored in double figures in 11 of Florida's last 12 games, registering six double-doubles over the stretch. He finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds -- his 12th double-double of the season -- before fouling out with 3:08 left in the loss to Villanova.

As a UK and a SEC fan, it's good to see the the Cats and the Gators playing well again.  The SEC's reputation has suffered greatly the last two years, with UK and UF having down years, but I think this year will be payback time, and looking at the recruiting, the next several years should be rewarding to Gator fans as well (hopefully we can split all the best recruits betwee ...(more)

NICE!!!! With the Gators now 6-0 and beating a good Florida State team and #2 Michigan State, they moved into the poll at number 10. I figured they would move into the top 25, maybe somewhere between 16-22. So number 10 is a nice surprise. I hope it doesn't put too much pressure on the boys. But I think that Billy will have them focused for their next games. Which includes a big time match-up with ...(more)

Very impressive defensive performance for both teams.  The difference was back court players and points in transition.  The Gators took full advantage of the deadly two-headed back court monster of Walker and Boynton.  Parsons, Werner and Shipman played as though they were a few inches taller and a couple of pounds heavier.  Mackin and Tyus were very impressive in the paint hol ...(more)

First Austin Rivers, now Brad Beal!?!?!?? I know Rivers is considering Duke, but if he stays, can you imagine a Senior Walker, and these two super freshman rotating at the guards? WOW!!! Hell, maybe Boynton pulls a Corey Brewer and stay for his junior year. That's doubtful, but Walker/Boynton/Rivers/Beal is a sick future guys! We just need to get some bigs in here. Vargas and Kadji have been nothi ...(more)

Hey Gators fans. As a curious Spartan fan, I'd like to know how your team is and how they will matchup against us. I know that you had a stellar team a few years ago, but I haven't seen any big news regarding them. What are your strengths? Weaknesses? Depth Chart?

Hopefully it stays interesting!

What do these guys have to do to get some respect?  A very good win over a very good FSU team, a neutral site win over #2 MSU and a win over a pretty good rutgers team.  Also, they are 6-0 with all this.  But...........they are ranked 34th and 44th in the ap and coaches polls.  I guess they just arent as good as some of the others like-Oklahoma(3-3), California(3-2), Maryland a ...(more)

Great job by the Gators not having a letdown after that hard fought win over MSU, beating Rutgers 73-58. The Gators (most notably, Erving Walker) finally got some 3's to fall and Vernon Macklin had a terrific game. What a great week for Florida athletics with three big wins in Basketball and destroying the Nolies again on the football field today.

Go Gators!

Hello from a UK fan!  I just wanted to wish your Gators the best of luck against the MSU Sparties coming up.  I hope the Gators roll all over them.  Let's show the Big 10 jokers that the SEC isn't as weak in hoops as they think we are.  What's the Big 10 have this year?  MSU, Purdue, (maybe Minnesota), OSU and (possibly Mich)...ok...so the Big Ten is looking to be stronger ...(more)

Wow.  What a win for Billy's program.  Great to see the coolness prevail as the game wound down.

A fine confidence builder for a young team.

Great game Gators !

Congratulations Gators on a well-played, hard-fought victory.

Don't expect it to be so "easy" next time.

Good luck with the rest of your season and hoping to meet up again in the Final Four.

What a disappointment this years home schedule is to a long time season ticket holder.  There is a home game against Florida State, but other than that there is not one single home pre conference game that is even slightly interesting.  Maybe St Leo's because they offer classes on the Santa Fe campus.  Seriously, Stetson, GA Southern, Troy, Florida A & M, South Alabama, American ...(more)

I was lineing up my Basketball watching schedule and I see my Spartans will be playing in the Legends Classic against Florida on Friday Nov. 27th at 8pm.  Hopefully someone here in Florida can tell me what station HDNet is on Comcast.  I went through my channels and do not see it.  I live in North Palm Beach and do not want to be scrambling 5 minutes before the game starts, if I hav ...(more)

Wow, that was amazing! This team is looking solid. Great win to show that this team is for real. My outlook on this season has totally changed. We look like a big competitors in the SEC.

So far, so good...I like the balance in scoring and contribution. 4 players are averaging double-digit PPG, and 5 players are averaging 4 to 7 APG. On the National Title teams all 5 starters averaged double-digit PPG, so this is an encouraging sign. Of course it's been against far inferior opponents so it will be interesting to see how this continues. Go Gators!
