KEY MATCHUPS
By virtue of winning the regular season title with a 16-2 record George Mason received the No. 1 seed for the CAA tournament and drew a first-round bye. The Patriots bring a 15-game winning streak into the tournament, beating Georgia State in the regular-season finale, 65-58. It was the second victory of the year over Georgia State, having won 66-51 in Atlanta. Georgia State Coach Rod Barnes has been dismissed by the school. UNC-Wilmington features one of the conference's top players in senior G Chad Tomko. George Mason topped the Seahawks, 78-63, in Wilmington with Andre Cornelius going off scoring 25 points.
PLAYER NOTES
--Junior F Ryan Pearson reached 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in a career in the season finale and is the newest member of Mason's 31-person 1,000-point club.
--Senior G Cam Long scored 19 points, all but three in the second half, to lead a trio of double-figure Patriot scorers on Senior Night. Long finished his senior season averaging 15.1 points a game and leading the conference in 3-point shooting with a 44.0 percent success rate.
