Hoosiers report: Getting inside
While Indiana carries a 25-6 record into the NCAA Tournament, the Hoosiers don't have a lot of momentum.
They have lost two of their last three games, including getting blown out by 28 points by Michigan State on March 2 and losing to Minnesota in the final second of the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals.
The season-ending swoon has dropped Indiana to a No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament, and it will play Arkansas (22-11) on March 21 in Raleigh, N.C. A win over the Razorbacks would likely pit the Hoosiers against the tournament's top seed, North Carolina, in the second round.
The Hoosiers were thrown into turmoil late in the season after coach Kelvin Sampson was forced to resign after being found to have committed multiple NCAA violations regarding phone calls to recruits.
Indiana is led by the inside/outside duo of senior forward D.J. White, the Big Ten Player of the Year, and guard Eric Gordon, the conference Freshman of the Year. White is averaging 17.2 points and 10.3 rebounds a game, and Gordon has a 21.2 scoring average.
Sophomore guard Armon Bassett (11.2) and freshman guard Jamal Crawford (10.2) also have double-digit scoring averages.
