Hello, Tom Crean.

The long-term answer to Indiana's short-term problems was lured from Marquette, where he'd built a powerful Big East program that went to the Final Four and was an NCAA Tournament regular.

He received rousing approval from the IU fan base, but the reception from his new team was a bit different. While, at least in terms of numbers. IU lost 81 points per game from last year's team.

Six players met with Crean at his first meeting with players. Eric Gordon was invited, but did not attend. His meetings will be with NBA coaches and talent evaluators. Gordon, the Big Ten's top scorer as a freshman, turned pro.

"We need everyone to understand this is going to take some time," Crean said.

Crean, whose reputation is that of a diligent worker and intelligent teacher, inherits a program with a reputation as a diamond of a program. But recently, IU has been made to appear as nothing more than top-quality cubic zirconium.

Indiana looked like a Final Four candidate in January. But amidst recruiting-related rules violations, repeat offender Kelvin Sampson was shown the door.

Indiana finished with a 25-8 record. However, the Hoosiers lost their final three games and were 3-4 after Sampson was forced to resign after being found to have violated NCAA rules regarding phone calls to recruits.

In his first meeting with his new team, Crean had six players.

But what will Crean have at IU when the Hoosiers take the court again in November? Ten new faces, only a few familiar to even the most loyal IU backers.

D.J. White is gone and Eric Gordon has entered the NBA draft. Sophomore guard Armon Bassett was dismissed from the team along with fellow guard Jamarcus Ellis on April 1 by interim coach Dan Dakich. Bassett had a fine season as he averaged 11.5 points and 3.3 assists a game and was third-team, All-Big Ten.

For Indiana to shine again soon, Crean will need more than elbow grease.

and I know this isn't an NBA thread.
But the very idea of Tyler Hansbrough in an Indiana (Pacer) uniform is appropriate.  It's just what Larry Bird envisioned to bring Indiana basketball (Pacer style) to being competitive.  I know, I know, this isn't an NBA board, nor is it a North Carolina thread, and to be frank; I aint a big fan of either...however, I am a big fan of this

I have posted on several threads here and most of my favorites are the longer-running, come in, stand up sit down threads where people vent. So I thought I would make my own. Hoosiedad, Dale, Xtreme, Josh, Nate, Darren (where have you gone?) need to help me on this. So here goes.

Post about anything you want. IU B-Ball will be nothing short of cinematic this year and I expect nothin

Don't hold your breath...Bawa Muniru and Maurice Creek are found to be missing from the famous 2009 'Bring IU Basketball back' Class.  Is it me that seems just as IU basketball has a chance to get back on track the wind in our sail dies down.  I hope this one isn't the case.  I don't know if these guys just can't figure a way to enter Division one or they're just buying time at ...(more)

I know I may never be allowed back here for posting at thread about UK.  But no one on here seems to be talking about what is going on at UK?  No one is saying that they are walking a dangerous path that seems eerily familiar?  Is it just so obvious or that I am way off base?  I would love your thoughts

The 6-10 junior from New Albany, Indiana verbaled to Purdue today (either today or yesterday).  I was really hoping that IU would pursue this kid a little more; he expressed a little interest in IU, but verbaled to Purdue even though they don't have a scholarship available for him.
Got to give Painter a little respect for pulling in a big without even being able to give him a

The youngest golfer in the tourny, Dave Erdy a 19 year old IU student, has started the US Open.  Pretty cool.  Read the story at this link. Go Hoosiers, go Erdy!

I don't wish anyone or any organization harm. But I will be curious to see how the NCAA comes down on USC following testimony by OJ Mayo that he accepted a bribe/ gift to come to USC. You can read the story for more details.  Does the NCAA judge equally? Hmmm, Hoosier fans may say no.  Lets watch and see.  I think we all know there is alot of money floating out there to grease the r ...(more)

You can take this for what it's worth...which may mean nothing to you, but for me; I found it fascinating.  A while back I ran into Kyle Tabor and Lance Stemler at a local gambling establishment....I know, I know...don't judge, just listen...

I immediately called out Kyle and shook his hand--- he doesn't know me from Adam, so consider the circumstances...I didn't say a word to Lanc

Does anyone have any info on David Williams?  I've looked on Scout and Rivals and there isn't too much written about the guy.  I do know that he is not rated as a SF and is a 2-star recruit but that's about all.  I also see that he had some interest by SEC teams to include Kentucky but he's never visited Bloomington officially so i wonder were the interest came from (on both sides). ...(more)
