Hello, Tom Crean.

The long-term answer to Indiana's short-term problems was lured from Marquette, where he'd built a powerful Big East program that went to the Final Four and was an NCAA Tournament regular.

He received rousing approval from the IU fan base, but the reception from his new team was a bit different. While, at least in terms of numbers. IU lost 81 points per game from last year's team.

Six players met with Crean at his first meeting with players. Eric Gordon was invited, but did not attend. His meetings will be with NBA coaches and talent evaluators. Gordon, the Big Ten's top scorer as a freshman, turned pro.

"We need everyone to understand this is going to take some time," Crean said.

Crean, whose reputation is that of a diligent worker and intelligent teacher, inherits a program with a reputation as a diamond of a program. But recently, IU has been made to appear as nothing more than top-quality cubic zirconium.

Indiana looked like a Final Four candidate in January. But amidst recruiting-related rules violations, repeat offender Kelvin Sampson was shown the door.

Indiana finished with a 25-8 record. However, the Hoosiers lost their final three games and were 3-4 after Sampson was forced to resign after being found to have violated NCAA rules regarding phone calls to recruits.

In his first meeting with his new team, Crean had six players.

But what will Crean have at IU when the Hoosiers take the court again in November? Ten new faces, only a few familiar to even the most loyal IU backers.

D.J. White is gone and Eric Gordon has entered the NBA draft. Sophomore guard Armon Bassett was dismissed from the team along with fellow guard Jamarcus Ellis on April 1 by interim coach Dan Dakich. Bassett had a fine season as he averaged 11.5 points and 3.3 assists a game and was third-team, All-Big Ten.

For Indiana to shine again soon, Crean will need more than elbow grease.

I have posted on several threads here and most of my favorites are the longer-running, come in, stand up sit down threads where people vent. So I thought I would make my own. Hoosiedad, Dale, Xtreme, Josh, Nate, Darren (where have you gone?) need to help me on this. So here goes.

Post about anything you want. IU B-Ball will be nothing short of cinematic this year and I expect nothin

Indiana University confirmed the signing of Weston (Fla.) Sagemont wing Will Sheehey, who is one of two early signees for the Hoosiers. The 6-6, 190-pound Sheehey averaged 24.6 points and 10 rebounds a game as a junior at South Fork High School. He's rated as the No. 131 prospects in the country by Rivals.com and played AAU ball for the Florida Rams. "Will Sheehey to me is a guy that is the e ...(more)

Indiana fans packed Assembly Hall for the Hoosiers' 80-68 loss to Maryland Tuesday night. The place was loud, filled with 17,039 fans. The place was energized. The place was primed to celebrate a victory over an ACC team.

Didn't happen. Maryland outscored Indiana 26-14 in the final 8:49.

But late in the game, the IU students sitting on the East side of Assembly Hall started c

Maryland is be=igger, stronger, and faster.  They are also more experienced.  Do we really have a chance.

The line I seen last had Indiana and four points, I don't know about you, but I feel like a traiter when I took Maryland.

Let's hope the freshman can demonstrate some ability on the court and take advantage of Maryland's weakness's, if not this is goin

Like most fans I was very excited to get this season started. I know it is only coach Creans 2nd year, and that we have a very raw team this season. But after losing 3 games in Puerto Rico this weekend, I am really starting to wonder how much worse its going to get before it gets better. I know were not going to win them all, but I really thought we would have at least beat Boston or George Mas ...(more)

I'm not sure how this game is going to go. IU definitely plays better at home and Maryland is a little down this year. Any thoughts or predictions? Go Hoosiers!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and your families.  Let us all be thankful for the blessings we have received, and for those yet to come.

Personally, I'm thankful for my first child (due 3/22/10), my family & friends, that I still have a job, and the mostly intelligent discussions here on the IU boards (just to name a few).

Here's to hoping all of you have a gr

Ok, so I was expecting the loss to Ole Miss, but not Boston U. So what do Hoosier fans think about George Mason? This team played GT and Nova very tough and I'm not sure where the hoosiers heads are. I see GM winning this game by 6-10 points. IU is young, I know, but hopefully the talent of Creek, Watford and Rivers (passing) can come quickly to win against GM. Thoughts?

Ok Hoosier fans, tought game in Puerto Rico today. Ole MIss comes in very athletic and should give the hoosiers a lot to deal with. This team is young and I'm not sure how well they'll do on the road, grant it both teams are on the road but I think Ole Miss has too much fire power. Any thoughts or assumptions? Go HOOSIERS!!!!

Why does it seem that there is a lack of effort and hustle by Tom Pritchard. He has looked loss on both ends of the court. I understand not having offensively some nights, but constantly cherry picking and not hustling back on defense is very disheartening. I know its only the 3rd game and that Ole Miss is a more experience team, but IU's lack of hustle on defense is going to cost them alot of gam ...(more)

Ok Hoosier fans what are your thoughts or expectations for tonights game? I am not truly sure what to expect just yet as I dont think we have seen enough of this team yet. In the end I do expect a win but as far as who will all start and who will be playing key minutes Im not sure. I think we have a lot of talented freshmen on the team with a few upper classmen to help such as Rivers and Dumas. On ...(more)

Did IU lose all of it's fans? I never see anybody on here talking about the team anymore. If I was to go to UK's message board it would be filled with different threads that were commented on just today. When I get on here it's filled with threads that are barely commented on. It's kind of disheartening for a guy thats so far away from other IU fans and never has anyone to talk about IU basketball ...(more)

will apparently not sign a LOI to play at IU.  There had been some speculation about that.  The Herald Times/Hoosier Scoop reported after talking with Williams' father.  This will keep one scholly open...hopefully for Selby or Kendrick.
