THE GOOD NEWS
Mark it down now: Louisville is next year's preseason Big East favorite. If the Cardinals don't return the soul of the club, they do return the heart of it with seven players who played regularly in the rotation coming back. The guard position is a gold mine of riches with Edgar Sosa, Preston Knowles, Andre McGee and Jerry Smith all returning. Up front, Rick Pitino also has Earl Clark along with versatile Terrence Williams. Derrick Caracter is likely to enter the NBA draft.

THE BAD NEWS
The team next year has to replace the senior leadership of C David Padgett and F Juan Palacios, who made up the soul of the team, and might lose Derrick Caracter to the NBA. Padgett was extremely important but Pitino is bringing in three highly promising front line players to fill the void.

ROSTER REPORT

--F Derrick Caracter first announced his plans to enter the NBA draft, then said he'd like to return. On May 22, Louisville coach Rick Pitino announced that Caracter was academically ineligible and likely had too many hurdles to overcome to return to UL.

Pitino said Caracter would most likely need to transfer to another school to return to the college game.

--C David Padgett came back from his early-season injury to set the Big East record in field goal percentage, hitting 68.3 percent during the league's 18-game schedule. He did not play enough games to qualify overall among the nation's leaders.

--F Terrence Williams showed his versatility by posting two triple-doubles during the season. Williams led the team in a rare double-double -- rebounds and assists.

Has anyone seen this story yet? The kid is done in Israel. He quit his basketball team. Not only did he cost himself a shot at college, but now he can't be looked upon as a serious NBA prospect. He struggled against pros ladies and gentlmen. He didn't even get HIS DIPLOMA. Wow. So he can't go to college and he might not even go to the NBA. End of a season............

The first seven minutes decided our fate rather quickly when California left us blistered with those three point shots, and Sosa picked up those early fouls, that reall hurt us badly, cause we had to play catch up the entire game, and never recovered. The final Rick Pitino show was on 84 WHAS and I called in to talk to Coach Pitino. It was the first time that we have ever spoken.

I has to wait until the end but I was the last caller to make it on the show.

About last night and beyond.
Well what can we say UofL didnt come to play. Too many bad plays , too many bad shots. Cal came at us alot like Marquette did and we couldnt stop their good shooting. The seasons over now theres no more second guess this bunch, Sosa and Smith days as Cardinals are over. New take on the office pool.
We all fill out our brackets, and do the "office" pool. I have a new take on a old method as to scoring. I joined one this season that offers this. You get points by seeding. I'll use Louisville as an example, as everyone knows here they are a (9) seed. I picked the cards over Cal and if they win, I will receive nine pts for their win. Really Louisville fans?
So many of us were confident we would thrash this Cal squad.

I was not. I said if the good Louisville team showed up, we would beat Cal. This team was as Russ4cards said in another post. We were too inconsistent. Final Thoughts 2009/2010
Thanks to this team for giving the fans and Freedom Hall a game for the ages on March 6, 2010.

Farewell to Edgar Sosa, Jerry Smith and Reggie Delk. Appreciate the effort, especially from Jerry, who despite his inablity to find his shooting touch, fought til the end of a bittersweet season.

I hate to say it but Good riddance! Smith can go be a father, Sosa can go play in Uzbekestan, and Reggie will be cast as a new super hero, Mr. Invisible! Better days are to come. This class had alot of talent but no leadership. I for one am looking forward to Knowles and Siva along with Smith next year!

Well  me and the wife will be staying to watch the games tomorrow regardless of the Cards being done. I have to say i knew it was trouble from the beggining. Went to the shootaround with a alot of the Cardinal fans at about 4 yesterday and watched the Cards practice. Let me say everything carried over. Smith and Sosa finish with an NCAA tournament career of 7 wins and 4 losses. 4 NCAA Appearances. 2 Elite Eights. 1 Big East Regular Season Title. 1 Big East Tournament Title. Not too shabby!

Samardo's NBA dream
If Samardo really wants to play in the NBA, he needs to improve:

(A) Samardo is a good foul shooter, he need 4 or 5 spots on the floor where he can hit a 10 to 12 foot jump shot.

(B) Improve his foot speed

(C) Learn to pass out of the low post when double teammed

(D) Improve passing from the high post especially dump downs and back door passes

Your thoughts about the game Friday
We have talked about the draw. We have had some insight about Cal. Don't tell me you haven't thought just a little about playing Duke on Sunday.

Whatcha think is going to happen Friday against Cal?

We got a classic Draw
a 9 seed against a Cal team who has been "Suspect" all year. Then a possible 2nd rounder with Duke and let me say we match up with Duke perfect! If the team that played against Syracuse shows up to Jacksonville we could make a little run!!
