First off, I think it's ludacris to think that Pitt will not make the tournament. Yes they lost a lot, but they got a 5 star recruit coming in, a tandem of good 3 ballers and still have guys that play solid defense.

We are less than a month away from the start of the 2009-10 College Basketball Season, What do you think Pitt's expectations are this year. To me its going to be a rebuilding year Pitt lost alot and we are gonna be rebuilding but I am looking forward to seeing some of these freshman including Dante Taylor. It could be a down year for pitt basketball but we will just wait and see what happens. One

DeJuan Blair played his first (preseason) game for the Spurs last night.
He piled up 22 great minutes, pouring in 16 points and grabbing 19 boards. He was 4-6 from the stripe, had just 1 PF, 2 A and 2 TO, and 1 Steal.
All in all, not a bad debut.
By comparison, Hasheem Thabeet fould out after 15 minutes with 6 points and 4 boards...

In case you have not heard yet, JJ has committed to Pitt for 2011 and is a great two way guard with strong defensive skills. Sounds like a great compliment to Epps, Woodall at the point and Cameron Wright, Gibbs at the shooting guard for 2011 and after. With the big guys coming in this year, looks like we will need to be looking at a Center. With these types of two way

Man, is our roster getting thin.
Just read yesterday that Jermaine Dixon had foot surgery and is out 8 weeks. I suppose this isn't that bad, since if the 8 week timeframe is accurate he'll only miss a couple of games against not-great teams.
But now we're minus all 5 starters from last year's squad on opening night, AND Gilbert Brown because of his academic woes

The City Game a game played in Pittsburgh that puts PITT vs Duquesne will be moved to Mellon Arena for the last basketball game played at Mellon Arena. PITT and Duquesne played the first two basketball game there back in 1961. This the first time since 2001 that the game is played at a neutral site, also at Mellon Arena. Pitt will be playing in the Big Apple on Dec 8th against Indiana as part of the Jimmy V Classic doubleheader.
I believe Georgetown will be playing Butler in the early game.
On November 23rd and 24th, Pitt will be participating in a 4 team tournament in Kansas City. The teams are Pitt, Texas, Iowa, and Wichita State.

The post-gazette has reported that Gilbert Brown has been suspended for the fall semester because of academics. He will not be able to play this fall and will not be eligible to play until the second semester (after the new year).

Blair passed up a chance to win a national title, all big east, first team all american etc for what a second round draft pick and no guaranteed money! Stupid decision to sign with a loser agent. Better to stay in school.

We all know this will be a rebuilding year for PITT, but with Jamie Dixon we have seen him work with less and win 20 games. This year he has unsteady talent that he will to do a great job of coaching. I personally think Dixon can win at least 20 games.

Pitt has just aquired PG Chase Adams. He is a senior from Centenary, a former Division I school which will be dropping down to DIII this year. He has good stats and will be able to help out Woodall and Gibbs at the point, plus he will not have to sit out a year. Last year he was the Summit League defensive player of the year.
