Jeff Xavier got banged up and missed time in the second half against Marquette. The resulting rotation showed that Keno Davis doesn't have a lot of other guys at the back end of the roster to go to in a crunch, as he basically shrank the rotation to seven for the rest of the day.

The Friars lost their lone meeting with the Orange last season, falling 71-64 at Syracuse. In the teams' last meeting in Providence, Syracuse posted a 71-67 win in February 2007.
--Providence, scoring just under 80 points per game, continues to have a balanced attack, with seven players scoring between 13.4 (Weyinmi Efejuku) and 8.8 (Randall Hanke) points per game.
--F Geoff McDermott reached the 1,000 career points mark recently. The Friars are one of five teams in the country with three 1,000-point scorers on their roster. The others are Marquette, North Carolina, North Dakota State and Alabama-Birmingham. Jeff Xavier and Weyinmi Efejuku are also over 1,000, and there are more coming. Randall Hanke has 971 and Sharaud Curry has 924.
--F Jonathan Kale had 13 points and 10 rebounds Thursday night, his second double-double of the season and the fifth of his four-year career.
--The Friars shot 73.8 percent from the foul line Thursday night and are 7-1 when they shoot over 70 percent from the line, 6-5 when they don't.
--Thursday night's game had 18 lead changes and 12 ties.
--The Dunkin Donuts Center has beefed up security after the brother of Seton Hall's Jeff Xavier was able to walk onto the floor and approach an official after his brother was injured during a play and no foul was called.
