Quincy Pondexter continues to come off the bench, and while he hasn't yet developed consistency in his game, he's played better at times. The sophomore had eight points, five rebounds and three assists vs. Washington State.

IN FOCUS
The Huskies badly wanted to win their Pac-10 opener at home against rival WSU because now they must travel to Los Angeles to face UCLA and USC. UW beat UCLA at Pauley Pavilion just two years ago, but the matchup figures to be a tougher one this season. The Bruins are loaded with big men strong and athletic enough to make it a long game for Jon Brockman, and UCLA's perimeter threesome of Darren Collison, Russell Westbrook and Josh Shipp is terrific.
ROSTER REPORT
Junior power forward Jon Brockman continues to be a beast for the Huskies, but Washington State made life difficult, nonetheless. Brockman had 14 points and 17 rebounds against the Cougars for his ninth double-double of the season. But he shot just 6 for 18 from the field, often defended by 6-10, 270-pound Aron Baynes.
--Tim Morris, the senior guard who transferred from Stanford, scored a season-high 16 points against WSU, his seventh straight game in double figures.
--Senior sharpshooter Ryan Appleby, who averaged 19 points in his first three games after returning from a broken thumb, has scored at a 6.8 points-per-game clip in four games since then. He shot 2 for 8 and scored six points vs. the defense of WSU's lengthy Kyle Weaver.
