FINAL RECORD
31-5, 16-2, first in Big Ten

WHAT WENT RIGHT
Why did the Badgers eclipse everyone's preseason expectations? Because every player, to a man, delivered more than expected. From sophomore point guard Trevon Hughes' breakout campaign to Brian Butch's stellar senior season, the Badgers' individual parts were better than anticipated and their sum was even more.

Junior forward Joe Krabbenhoft joined senior Michael Flowers on the all-Big Ten defensive team -- a key to Wisconsin building the nation's No. 1 scoring defense -- while sophomore sixth man Jason Bohannon showed he'll be one of the Big Ten's most consistent perimeter players over the next two years.

WHAT WENT WRONG
There aren't many negatives in a 31-5 season, especially when the five losses all came against teams that did no less than reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament. In fact, if Hughes' gimpy ankle hadn't given out during the Badgers' season-ending loss to Davidson, Wisconsin might not have bowed out in the Sweet Sixteen.

If there's going to be any regret over the way the season played out, it will be in the way that Wisconsin's freshmen didn't get a ton of playing time to accelerate their learning curve. Jon Leuer, Tim Jarmusz and Keaton Nankivil combined for 411 minutes and 116 points in Wisconsin's 36 games. Unless an incoming freshman is going to earn a starting job, which seems unlikely under Bo Ryan, then one of these three guys, must start next year.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"We had a great year. Big Ten championship. All those things are great and I'm so proud of 'em. But, you know, you always like 40 more minutes. We're not going to get it." -- Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan to the media after the Badgers lost to Davidson March 28 in the Midwest regional semifinal.

First off Kyle Kelm is a real nice player. I'm surprised UW didn't offer him. He seems like the kind of player that they normally go after. Very Leueresque.

Secondly, I didn't think Arrowhead had a chance after watching the semi's but momentum proved to be the difference maker in the championship game.  I think the buzzerbeater in the semi's just carried over and they couldn't miss

So this game is just underway, and so far it's not looking great for the Badgers. Started off with an airball by Nankivil followed by a frustration foul and the Badgers are down 10 early. I love when Jarmusz and Evans are in the game simultaneously though because then I don't have to be frustrated on the offensive end because I know not to expect anything from them like I do from our starters ...(more)

Just off recent memory....

05-06: Lost first round, flat performance.

06-07: Wisc was ranked #1 at one point and in place to win the Big Ten. They lost to OSU and Indiana, lost to OSU in Big Ten Tourney final, almost lost first round to Corpus Cristey or w/e, then got handled by UNLV in the round of 32 with a total flat performance. This with tremendous talent.

07-

(POLL) It's time to find out who can predict Wisconsin's success in the tournament  ... and why.

I like our chances against a team in Wofford that is making its first trip to the Big Dance.  In the 2nd round, I expect to face a Temple team that has a size advantage and solid scorers down low.  They have a high RPI of 8, went 3-3 against the Top 25, played in an underrated Atla

Except for making my weekend less enjoyable, today's game didn't mean much for the Badgers. Unlike some, I'm not overly concerned with their Tourney seeding. To get anywhere in the tournament you eventually have to beat good teams, and to project their path now is an exercise in futility. Regardless, they are still a solid 5-seed.

What concerns me is their inability to win on the roa ...(more)

The more I think about it folks, this is the Badgers best team (in terms of making a run at championship) maybe of all time. With 3 legit guards and a dominant low post prescence along with Nanks this is a team that needs to take advantage and make a run this year to Indy. I know it is a lot of pressure but I think Bo knows this might be his best shot for the forseeable future
Although everyo

Did not see a game thread so here is one. It is half time Badgers up but not by many. I think Bo makes a few changes and the WI get going in the second half. Still need to get this game under contro so we can build confidence for the rest of tourney.

I don't know if anyone has checked out Joe Lunardi's latest bracket, but it is pretty interesting.  I would guess it is because of teams around us losing, but he actually has moved the Badgers UP to the 3 line.  He also has Minnesota as his last team in and Illinois as the second team out.  He also moved Purdue all the way down to the 4 line.  I am pretty surprised that he move ...(more)

So Wisconsin will be a 4 seed in the NCAA tournament and open play against 13 seeded Wofford. I'm pretty happy with our seeding and we should be able to beat Wofford pretty soundly barring another 20% FG day. In the second round we would have either Temple or Cornell, both pretty good teams, but certainly not worldbeaters. I think this gives us a great shot to reach the Sweet Sixteen where we woul ...(more)

Folks, I was just looking at Ohio States schedule because I keep hearing they are in consideration for a 1 seed and it makes no sense. They have done absolutely nothing out of conference in terms of marquee victories and have only beaten Mich St, Purdue and Wisconsin. Yet because they have the most recognizable name they are in consideration for a 1 seed. This is a very overrated team and I think ...(more)

Great news for the 2010 class.  Duje Dukan verbally commited to Wisconsin today.  While this is not Vander Blue, I think Dukan fits very well into Bo Ryan's system.  He is a skilled 6'8'' forward with range.  Very exciting news in light of the tough month.

Go Badgers!

Because I am sure it is not just me.  We beat Wofford... by four points??  We only had 3 assists combined, and no blocks!  Three players scored a combined 48 points... the rest?  5 points combined!  Who agrees we are going to need a much better effort to beat Cornell?

In pretty much every bracket projection it seems we are going to Spokane no matter what as a 4 or 5 seed. I assume the only way to avoid this would be to beat Illinois and Ohio State next week and get to the championship game of the tournament. Lets use this thread to clarify scenarios as to possibilties to what Selection Sunday will mean to the Badgers. Right now, a loss to Illinois would slot us ...(more)
