Quick Take
BIGE While it was Connecticut and Pittsburgh who drew most of the national attention all season, Louisville (28-5) seemingly flew under the radar to capture both the regular-season title and conference tournament title. It's the Cardinals' first title since joining the Big East four years ago and should earn them a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Pittsburgh (28-4) and Connecticut (27-4) may still draw top-seed consideration in spite of quarterfinal losses. The Panthers have the added bonus of beating UConn twice during the season. Aside from the top three, Villanova, Marquette, Syracuse and West Virginia are also seen as locks for the Big Dance.

Despite losing the championship game, it's not a tournament runner-up Syracuse will soon forget. In the quarterfinals, the Orange outlasted Connecticut 127-117 in the second-longest Division I game ever played. The six-overtime affair finished one short of the record set in Cincinnati's 75-73 victory over Bradley on Dec. 21, 1981. Syracuse followed it up with another OT win in the semis against West Virginia.

Providence lost to Louisville today so it looks like the Big East will only receive 7 bids to the NCAA tournament this year.  Other conference fans are probably going to talk trash about only receving 7 bids but thats ok.  The 7 teams from the Big East that will be going are all strong teams that can make a deep run so the conference should show its dominance there.

That was the best game I've ever watched. I'm a Big Ten fan and usually take crap from the Big East fans, but I'll give props where props are due. Plus this win for the cuse is nice cuz I go to college in western NY so I'm close to Syracuse. On an even better note, this lose for UCONN, coupled with Pitt and Oklahoma falling really helps out MSU's chances at a 1 seed. Now they just have to win o ...(more)

They're on the bubble, and only up one point against Depaul.  Even if they win this game, they'd have to play Louisville, a team that may not be the favorite to win, but has a good chance to do so.  This could be a 7 bid league, where all 7 teams could make it to the Sweet 16, or further.

So much for parity.

West Virginia should be in the NCAA and Notre Dame is well out. Can Notre Dame win another game to improve its chances of getting into the big dance? Will one more win be enough? Personaly I think that Notre Dame will need to win the Big East Tournament to get the Automatic bid, if they do not they will most likey be NIT bound. Let me know what you think.
