NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Cornell Johnston seemed to be in the right place to spot up and knock down a 3-pointer every time Eastern Illinois' lead began to shrink Wednesday night at the Ohio Valley Conference tournament as the sixth-seeded Panthers fended off No. 7 seed SIU-Edwardsville 78-66 to win their first post-season game since 2010.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Kareem Storey and Angelo Warner combined to sink four foul shots in the final nine seconds as fifth-seeded Morehead State squeaked past No. 8 seed Southeast Missouri State 79-74 in the opening round of the Ohio Valley tournament Wednesday night.
Murray State point guard Cameron Payne became the first sophomore to be named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year since 2006-07.
We've got a lot of movement in the first poll of the best month of the year.
Kentucky is still your unanimous No. 1, but there has been a slight shake-up through the top of the poll and at the bottom.
Some still need to clich berths, but Lousiana Tech, Iona, Murray State, Harvard and Stephen F. Austin could make noise in the NCAA Tournament.
MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) Sophomore Cameron Payne scored 31 points with eight rebounds and six assists as Murray State rallied in the second half to defeat Tennessee-Martin 73-67 on Saturday night, pushing its conference-record win streak to 24 in a row.
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) Jarekious Bradley scored 28 points and Southeast Missouri State snapped a three-game losing skid heading into next week's Ohio Valley Conference tournament with a convincing 89-65 win over Austin Peay Saturday.
RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) Corey Walden scored Eastern Kentucky's final 10 points and finished with a career-high 35 to lead the Colonels in a 70-67 victory over Tennessee Tech on Saturday, securing the No. 2 seed in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Craig Bradshaw hit 6 of 11 from long range and totaled 23 points as Belmont ran past Tennessee State 88-62 on Saturday.
