Utah State, San Jose State to Mountain West in 2013

San Jose State and Utah State will join the Mountain West in 2013 and an official announcement could come as early as Friday, sources told CBSSports.com.

Last week CBSSports.com first reported the Spartans and Aggies were expected to join the league in 2013 and reported two months ago about the possibility of both teams joining the MWC.

The Salt Lake Tribune first reported Friday's announcement.

The addition of San Jose State and Utah State to the Mountain West is another crippling blow to the Western Athletic Conference. With SJSU and USU leaving, along with Texas State, which is headed to the Sun Belt; and Louisiana Tech and Texas San Antonio to Conference USA, the WAC will be down to two football members -- New Mexico State and Idaho -- in 2013.

In 2013-14 the Mountain West's membership will consist of 10 schools: Air Force, Colorado State, Fresno State, Hawaii (football only), Nevada, New Mexico, San Jose State, UNLV, Utah State and Wyoming.
