No Pac-12 Network, no problem: Cal AD drops DirecTV in very public fashion
Cal athletic director Sandy Barbour has been saying for weeks that she would drop DirecTV if the satellite provider didn't provide the Pac-12 Network by the time college football season kicked off Thursday. Well, Directv wasn't carrying the Pac-12 Network by Thursday and Barbour proved to be a woman of her word.
Not only did the Golden Bear AD make the switch to Comcast -- she had been a DirecTV subscriber since 1996 -- she documented the entire process of the DirecTV-to-Comcast switch and posted the above video to Youtube.
There are a few questions here, namely, why doesn't Barbour -- a BCS athletic director -- have a television 75-inches bigger? But TV size aside, this is a pretty good publicity stunt in the Pac-12's ongoing effort to get DirecTV to carry the network. Of course, Barbour's video comes on the heels of an open letter the Pac-12 wrote to fans explaining the DirecTV situation.
Anyway, back to Barbour's video. As fun as it was, its only the second-best video released by a Pac-12 school this week. The No. 1 video was by the Oregon Duck, who got bored and made a "Gangnam Style" parody video. You can watch it again below or for the first time if you somehow managed to miss it.
