Maine (0-0, 0-0 CAA) at Boston College (0-1, 0-1 ACC)
Kickoff: Saturday, 1 p.m. ET (ESPN3)
Spread: No line
Watchability: While Boston College lost to Miami on Saturday, the Eagles were at least entertaining. In the first game with new offensive coordinator Doug Martin, Boston College had 537 yards of total offense. This is Maine's first game, but the Black Bears are ranked No. 18 in the FCS coaches poll.
Shining Stars: Boston College: QB Chase Rettig threw for 441 yards last week, the sixth highest single game total in school history. He looked confident and comfortable in Martin's offense. LB Kevin Pierre-Louis, the team's best defensive player, had 14 tackles against Miami. Maine: WR Maurice McDonald was named First Team All-CAA last year after amassing 591 receiving yards and five touchdowns in just nine games before suffering a season-ending right foot injury.
Who could steal the show: Boston College: RB Tahj Kimble had a costly fumble against Miami, but he did it all for Boston College last week. He had 10 carries for 45 yards and caught eight passes for 130 yards and a touchdown. Maine: LB Donte Dennis missed the entire 2011 season because of elbow surgery. However, he is a two-time all-conference selection.
Magic number for Boston College: 3. Boston College had three turnovers last week against Miami. Rettig threw an interception and the Eagles lost two fumbles. If the Eagles take care of the ball, they should win the game.
Magic number for Maine: 5. Maine tied for the conference lead with five Preseason All-CAA selections: McDonald, DE Michael Cole, TE Justin Perillo, RG Chris Howley and LT Josh Spearin.
The game comes down to: Whether Boston College has any sort of a hangover after its loss against Miami. The Eagles acknowledged afterward that they let a winnable game get away last week. Now, a decent Maine team comes to Chestnut Hill, and the Black Bears deserve Boston College's full attention.
Prediction: Boston College 34, Maine 17
