Eastern Washington (1-0, 0-0 Big Sky) at Washington State (0-1, 0-0 Pac-12)

Kickoff: Saturday, 3 p.m. ET (Pac-12 Network)

Spread: No line

Watchability: Every time a Mike Leach team takes the field it's watchable. Well, mostly.

Shining stars: Washington State: Quarterback Jeff Tuel must bounce back from a disappointing debut for Leach, and he can and should against the FCS opponent. Tuel is too bright and talented not to catch on quickly with Leach, but Leach's loyalty can only go so far. Eastern Washington: Talk about a deep target: Eagles receiver Brandon Kaufman had five catches for 148 yards, but somehow didn't find the end zone last week. He'll be looking for paydirt now.

Who could steal the show: Washington State: Safety Deone Bucannon had 12 tackles against BYU, and maybe that was the problem. Safeties shouldn't have 12 tackles. But he is that good, and he'll have a chance again to be active against the Eagles. Eastern Washington: Against a Washington State defense that is not so much imposing as it is not imposing, Quincy Forte could be in for a big afternoon. He gained 69 yards and a touchdown last week, and he'll be a focal point of the offense against the Cougars.

You going? Ranking the road trip: A road trip to Pullman for this game? No thanks.

Magic number for Washington State: 80. The BYU defense is good, but not negative-five yards rushing good. Yet that's what Washington State produced on the ground in the 30-6 season-opening loss. They'll need to get the running game on track -- say, 80 yards -- against their in-state opponent.

Magic number for Eastern Washington: 5. BYU roughed up the Cougars last weekend with five impact defensive plays -- two interceptions and three sacks. If the Eagles can match that number this week, they'll have Washington State on its heels.

The game comes down to: Washington State easing more comfortably into Mike Leach's system. The Cougars struggled mightily in Week 1, and Leach needs to right the ship, and fast.

Prediction: Washington State 24, Eastern Washington 22
