Meet Kulabafi, the alter ego of Stanford RB Stepfan Taylor
When it comes running back alter egos, former Washington Redskin Clinton Portis set the bar pretty high during his career with such alter egos as: Dolemite Jenkins, Sheriff Gonna Getcha and Dolla Bill.
Well, it appears that alter egos aren't limited to the NFL any more. Meet Kulabafi, the cereal-loving alter ego of Stanford star RB Stepfan Taylor. Taylor recently scored an exclusive sit-down interview with Kulabafi and the above video is what ensued.
Kulabafi is an interesting character who seems to have an amazing fashion sense. He has a thing for leopard skin jackets, wears a Stanford straw golf hat that would make Tiger Woods jealous, and he does pushups on campus. How could you not love the guy? He also eats cereal and likes to buy soap.
If buying soap doesn't make you like Kulabafi, maybe his will: he has his name written on his sunglasses in fossilized goat cheese. Did we mention he loves leopard print and can name all of the starters on the Stanford offensive line?
And don't think for a second coach David Shaw doesn't know who Kulabafi is: "I think Stepfan is trying to control this Kulabafi character. I don't know that he's winning that battle right now," Shaw told reporters.
As for Taylor, when he's not interviewing Kulabafi, he's tearing it up on the football field. The senior running back is fourth in the Pac-12 in rushing (111 ypg) this season and fifth in rushing touchdowns (5). Taylor's game-winning 21-yard TD run in overtime capped the Cardinal's 14-point comeback against Arizona in Saturday's 54-48 win.
Taylor will be back in action Saturday when Stanford travels to South Bend, Ind., to take on No. 7 Notre Dame. There's no word on whether Kulabafi will be making the trip.
