Kickoff: Saturday, 12:30 p.m. ET (ACC Network/ESPN3)
Spread: Virginia Tech by 10.
Watchability: The Hokies have to win their final two games to extend their bowl streak to 20 consecutive seasons, and that begins with a trip to Chestnut Hill on Saturday. Both teams are struggling. Virginia Tech has lost five of its last six while Boston College has just one win against FBS competition this season.
Shining Stars: Virginia Tech -- QB Logan Thomas threw for 298 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions last week against Florida State. Thomas has been inconsistent, but he carries a large load for Virginia Tech's offense, even on the ground. Boston College -- WR Alex Amidon leads the ACC with 115.7 receiving yards per game and is second in the league with 7.3 catches per game. He has been held under five receptions just once this year, and that was against Florida State.
Who could steal the show: Virginia Tech -- WR Corey Fuller has stepped up in his redshirt senior season. He had seven catches for 124 yards and a touchdown last week against Florida State. Boston College -- QB Chase Rettig is third in the league, averaging 280.8 passing yards per game. He has attempted 392 passes in the team's 10 games.
You going? Ranking the road trip: It is the last home game of the season for Boston College, and that means it's senior day. Even so, it is an afternoon game, and there probably won't be much of an atmosphere. The Eagles are 2-3 at home so far, including a 21-6 loss to Notre Dame last week.
Magic number for Virginia Tech: 0-5. The Hokies are 0-5 this season in games away from Lane Stadium. Dating back to last season, Virginia Tech has lost seven consecutive games outside of Blacksburg, and the Hokies have lost two of their last three trips to Boston College.
Magic number for Boston College: 228.4. Boston College is giving up 228.4 rushing yards per game, which ranks No. 11 in the ACC and No. 116 nationally. The Eagles need to make Virginia Tech one-dimensional and force Thomas to beat them with his arm.
The game comes down to: Emotion. This is the final home game of the season and could be the final home game of the Frank Spaziani era. His players have not quit on him and could give an inspired performance on senior day.
Prediction: Virginia Tech 27, Boston College 24
