Miami OL Jon Feliciano (knee) will miss the rest of spring practice
Miami offensive lineman Jon Feliciano will miss the rest of spring practice after suffering an injury in the team's Saturday scrimmage, a team spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday. As a redshirt freshman in 2011, Feliciano appeared in ten games - starting eight. According to CBSSports.com's Brian London, the sophomore suffered the injury (right knee) in Miami's March 24 scrimmage. Feliciano missed two games last season with a sprained ankle, suffered during a touchdown celebration against Georgia Tech. According to most reports, at least this injury occurred on a play.
Susan Miller Degan, of the Miami Herald, spoke to Feliciano on Saturday after the open scrimmage at Ted Hendricks Stadium in nearby Hialeah.
"I was pulling and I hit the safety, Ray-Ray [Armstrong], OIT [RB Eduardo Clements] was about to break but he got hit in the back and he kind of fell into my knee," Feliciano explained. "Hopefully it's just a sprain. They haven't told me anything. I'll just keep some ice on it and see how it goes."
Head coach Al Golden shuffled through several different lineups along the offensive line in 2011, due to injury and continued competition during the season. Feliciano's absence for the rest of spring will likely delay any permanent decisions at guard or tackle until the fall.
