Akron selling Terry Bowden-inspired "Fear the Dadgum Roo" shirts
The hire of Terry Bowden at Akron almost seems like a social experiment in some ways: how will the Southern-fried folksy-isms of the Bowden coaching clan to play in the heart of Ohio's Rust Belt? To judge by the latest t-shirt in the "Zips Team Shop," they're playing pretty dadgum well.
Based more-or-less on Bobby Bowden's well-known use of the word and a tweet from Terry just ahead of Signing Day, that t-shirt has made a slight-but-telling alteration to the Akron athletic department's slogan/motto:

Yes, that says "Fear the Dadgum! Roo," a phrase we discovered via the Hustle Belt and haven't been able to get out of our heads--probably because pairing the corporate-but-silly "Fear the Roo" motto with the cornpone "dadgum" is the kind of one-of-a-kind synthesis that happens when, well, a Bowden gets hired at a place like Akron. We approve.
The t-shirt isn't the only sign Akron is 100 percent behind their new coach's lingo, either, as this tweet indicates:

The dadgum tuba? If the school winds up promoting its theater department's "dadgum penetrating post-modern production of Henrik Dadgum Ibsen's A Dadgum Doll's House," things will have officially gotten out of hand.
