Red River Rivalry spawns a Red River Wedding
Love is one of the only things that can overcome rivalry in college football. Sometimes instead of the Montagues and Capulets, it's the Sooners and Longhorns. Take Clayton Kelley and Lydia Crawford as an example. An Oklahoma fan, Kelley proposed to Crawford at the Cotton Bowl last year following Oklahoma's 55-17 win against rival Texas. Even though she had just seen her beloved Longhorns destroyed by her boyfriend's Sooners, Crawford said yes and last weekend the couple were married.
What was truly special about this wedding, however, was the cake.
Rather than a traditional wedding cake, the couple decided to go with cake balls for their guest. Cake balls that were burnt orange and crimson in color and spread throughout a replica of the Cotton Bowl. Some pieces even represented players on the field.
The finishing touch on the cake was a digital picture frame complete with advertisements that served as the Cotton Bowl scoreboard.
The newlyweds plan to continue attending the game every season, sitting on the side of the team that won the previous season.
