LSU's Mo Isom fails to make football roster as placekicker
Unless a tweet sent from her account is highly misleading, LSU women's soccer goalkeeper Mo Isom has failed in her bid to join the Tiger football roster as a placekicker.
Isom made headlines and won admirers nationwide when she first tried out for the defending SEC champions in spring camp. She didn't make the roster, but Les Miles encouraged her to try again in the fall if she could make substantial improvement over the summer.
Unfortunately for Isom -- and any college football fan hoping to see SEC history made this fall -- her improvement apparently wasn't enough to earn a spot on the LSU roster. She sent this tweet out Friday afternoon:

Isom attended walk-on kicker tryouts Tuesday and Wednesday, after which Miles was complimentary but noncommittal in the Times-Picayune, saying she "made a couple and missed a couple."
After her tryout in spring, Miles said that Isom would have to "concentrate on extra points and field goals," since he wasn't comfortable with her ability to tackle on kickoff duty. But he praised her commitment to the team (as he did again this week) and firmly disputed the notion that Isom was trying out only to seek publicity.
Isom would have become the first female football player in SEC history and just the second in FBS history, following former Colorado and New Mexico kicker Katie Hnida.
