PHOTO: Georgia Tech to wear honeycomb helmets vs. Virginia Tech?

Is Georgia Tech planning on unveiling a special honeycomb helmet for its Monday season opener vs. Virginia Tech?

It certainly looks that way. Backup quarterback Synjyn Days tweeted out the following message, since deleted but saved by Yellow Jacket Scout affiliate The Hive: "New Helmets...Lets Get It 9/3."

The tweet was accompanied by this photo on Instagram, also deleted, also saved by SBNation:

It's possible the Jackets will save the helmet for some other date rather than debuting them in Blacksburg, but we'll be stunned if that's not the genuine article, destined to be worn on the field at some point or another. Whenever they do, though, they'll get a thumbs-up--it's a cool look and a nice change-of-pace from Tech's usual golden helmets.

However, not to be a buzzkill (if you'll pardon the pun) ... yellow jackets don't make honeycomb, or honey. Somewhere, there's a hive of actual honeybees that's just livid over the misrepresentation, we bet.
