Mark Weisman not listed on Iowa's depth chart

Just when you thought Iowa had overcome the curse of AIRBHG, it has become a vengeful god once more.

Iowa released its depth chart for this weekend's game against Penn State and noticeably absent was fullback turned running back Mark Weisman. Instead, running backs Greg Garmon and Jordan Canzeri are listed as the top two backs on the depth chart.

Weisman took over the role as Iowa's starting running back as essentially a Plan Z. Injuries, suspensions and transfers had left the Hawkeyes barren at the position, and Weisman took full advantage of the opportunity. The former fullback got the start in Iowa's third game of the season against Northern Iowa and rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns.

In his four starts this season, he has rushed for 623 yards and eight touchdowns. He has essentially been the Iowa offense and, in fact, hurt his ankle while scoring a game-tying touchdown in the final minute on Saturday.

Garmon is a true freshman who has only carried the ball 14 times for 35 yards this season, and Canzeri tore his ACL during spring practice. If Weisman is unable to play against Penn State, Iowa is going to have a lot of trouble moving the ball.

Well, more trouble than it normally has, anyway.
