On Thursday, the school announced Long had agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2017 season.
"I am very excited about the future of Aztec football under Rocky Long's leadership," said athletic director Jim Sterk in a release. "Coach Long has continued the growth and the success in all aspects of our program, while gaining more regional and national interest. I look forward to next season as we look to defend our Mountain West title."
Since Long took over for Brady Hoke before the 2011 season his teams have gone 17-9 over two seasons, including an 11-4 mark in Mountain West play.
