Bowl picks - rest of 2012
So far, I'm 4-3 picking straight up, 2-5 against the spread. That's bowl games for you. Here are the rest of the 2012 bowl games. I'll pick the 2013 portion of the schedule next week.
Western Kentucky (-6, cover) vs. Central Michigan: The Hilltoppers lost their coach, but CMU is the worst team in the bowls.
San Jose State (-7, cover) vs. Bowling Green: The Spartans lost their coach too. Seems there's a team like that in every game. I like the WAC runner-up, though.
Cincinnati (-7, cover) vs. Duke: Duke's first bowl appearance in a long time is in nearby Charlotte. That won't help the overmatched Blue Devils. P.S.: What's a "Belk?"

Baylor (+1) vs. UCLA: Baylor has looked better at the end of the year. UCLA is just glad not to be playing Stanford again. You can count on a high-scoring game.
Ohio vs. Louisiana-Monroe (-7): Monroe played well early against some big names. Ohio started 7-0, sparking BCS talk, but lost four of its final five.
Russell Athletic Bowl (Dec. 28)
Virginia Tech vs. Rutgers (+2.5): It was a pretty miserable year for the Hokies, although they did win their final two. Rutgers came up just short of winning the Big East.
Meineke Car Care Bowl (Dec. 28)
Minnesota vs. Texas Tech (-13, cover): The Red Raiders shockingly lost their coach, then three defensive players (one starter) for the bowl. Doesn't matter. They're still playing Minnesota.
Rice vs. Air Force (-2, cover): Gotta go with the Falcons in the Armed Forces game, right?
West Virginia (-3.5, cover) vs. Syracuse: The Mountaineers had a bad streak in conference play, but won their final two. Few offenses are more explosive. Few defenses are more implosive.
Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl (Dec. 29)
Navy vs. Arizona State (-14.5, cover): Navy played three good teams this year and lost to all of them.
Texas vs. Oregon State (-2.5, cover): Texas had an up-and-down season, finishing down. The Beavers were one of the more pleasant surprises this year.
Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl (Dec. 29)
TCU vs. Michigan State (+2.5): The Big Ten is an underdog in every one of its bowl games. This is the best chance for the league to score a W.
North Carolina State (+7) vs. Vanderbilt: I feel like an idiot picking ACC over SEC, but Vandy isn't SEC elite.
Southern California (-9.5, cover) vs. Georgia Tech: Depends on how interested USC is. Georgia Tech should be sitting at home.
Iowa State vs. Tulsa (+1): The weather bowl (Cyclones vs. Golden Hurricane). I'll go with the league champ.
LSU (-5) vs. Clemson: I guess picking the Tigers won't work. Gonna have to be more specific. This time, I'm wising up and taking the SEC over the ACC.
