49ers fans, take comfort in this:
Instead of going on "The Tonight Show," maximizing his endorsement potential or idling on a tropical island, Colin Kaepernick is back where it all started, the training facility in suburban Atlanta that readied him for the 2011 draft.
He's working out. Hard.
“A few of our veterans are easing into it,” Competitive Edge Sports Performance' Aaron Roberts told the Sacramento Bee. “Colin, of course, is here all day, every day.”
Kaepernick is one of a dozen NFL players training alongside 50 college players preparing for this week's NFK Scouting Combine.
Kaepernick arrives at 8 a.m. and trains until late afternoon. There's a grueling pool workout in which players swim while being pulled the opposite way by a harness, according to the paper.
49ers receivers Chad Hall and Ricardo Lockette are there too, and 2012 first-rounder A.J. Jenkins also is expected.
Kaepernick, 25, took a week off following the Super Bowl loss, going to Hollywood for the Cartoon Network Hall of Game Awards and the Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Gala. He also got another tattoo.
Then it was back to the gym.
"The biggest part of my job that has consumed the most time are the 'no, thank-you's,'" Shawn Smith, Kaepernick's marketing agent, told the paper. "It's about protecting him and giving him his own space. He believes the things coming his way this year will still be there next year."
