Tim Buckley first to transfer from Penn State, will head to North Carolina State

By Tom Fornelli | College Football Writer

We have our first Penn State transfer. It was announced on Monday that Penn State safety Tim Buckley was transferring to N.C. State.

“I am excited to be a member of the N.C. State Wolfpack,” Buckley said in a statement. “The opportunity to come here and play at my state university, so close to home, was something that I couldn't pass up.”

Buckley, who is from Raleigh, walked on at Penn State. He will be on scholarship at N.C. State, and per the NCAA's amnesty agreement with Penn State transfers, he will be eligible to play right away.

Buckley has four years of eligibility remaining.

Now, just because Buckley is the first Penn State player to officially transfer, that doesn't mean he'll be the last. Running back Silas Redd was in California over the weekend visiting USC and quarterback Rob Bolden had a visit with LSU over the weekend as well.

Both players might soon join Buckley as former Nittany Lions.
