PHOTOS: Maryland unveils 'White Ops' all-white uniforms

By Jerry Hinnen | College Football Writer

Maryland's efforts to become the Oregon of the East Coast -- well, at least where uniform wackiness is concerned -- continued Friday with the unveiling of a set of all-white Under Armour "White Ops" uniforms to be worn vs. West Virginia on Saturday.

Via the official Maryland Facebook page:

Per this release from Under Armour (and posted by reporter Jakob Enkelge), the state flag-pattern embedded in the numbers and across the cleats is called ... wait for it ... "Mariflage."

Since monochromatic football uniforms rarely look anything but gaudy, our hopes for this look aren't high, even if we're withholding final judgment until we see it on the field Saturday against the Mountaineers. But give the Terps and Under Armour credit for one thing: We're not sure even the Swoosh would come up with something as over-the-top as the word (much less the concept) of "Mariflage."
