|Oregon may have been jumped in the initial BCS standings but still sits at No. 2 in the polls. (US Presswire)|
Week 8 did not feature a ton of upsets or any major shakeups at the top of the polls. Oregon, Florida, and Kansas State all emerged with convincing conference victories, solidifying their status as contenders to Alabama at the top. The Crimson Tide were once again No. 1 in the AP and coaches polls after their 44-13 beatdown of Tennessee in Knoxville, though they were only a unanimous No. 1 in the coaches poll.
South Carolina fell from its position in the top 10 after its 44-11 loss to Florida in the Swamp, and now must hope for a Georgia victory in the Cocktail Party to stay in the hunt for the SEC East title. Notre Dame survived a tough 17-14 battle with BYU, which sets up nicely for a primetime showdown with red-hot Oklahoma next weekend in Norman.
After making an appearance in the AP poll last week, the Ohio Bobcats finally break through in the coaches poll -- making their first appearance since 1991. Frank Solich's squad was off in Week 8, but hey -- that means they are still undefeated!
