Michigan's Fitz Toussaint gets 10 months' probation

By Tom Fornelli | Staff Writer

Michigan running back Fitzgerald Toussaint was sentenced to 10 months of probation on Tuesday. Toussaint pleaded guilty in August to a charge of operating a vehicle while impaired, a misdemeanor, after originally being charged with a felony count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated in July.

"It was a poor decision," Toussaint told the judge on Tuesday.

As part of Toussaint's probation, he'll be required to attend 10 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings over the next three months.

Toussaint was suspended for Michigan's season-opening game against Alabama because of the arrest. He returned for the Wolverines' next game, against Air Force.

Toussaint is currently second on the team in rushing -- trailing quarterback Denard Robinson -- with 283 yards and four touchdowns. He rushed for 1,041 yards and nine touchdowns in 2011.
