Virginia Tech needs wins against Boston College and Virginia to become bowl eligible, and the team got some new gear on Saturday for the first challenge. Maryland's "Black Ops" uniforms are sleek and intimidating, but few uniforms from around the ACC are bringing that seasonal feel like Virginia Tech's helmets.

The announcement was made Saturday morning through the school's equipment department, with the surprise being the Nike Pro Combat helmet with the logo on one side and numbers on the other. A similar style has been seen at several Nike schools, including two different Boise State uniforms and Mississippi State's "Snow Bowl" alternates.
