Jimbo Fisher is 'committed' to Florida State

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher wants everybody to know he has no plans on leaving Tallahassee for another job this winter.

With the regular season ending for a lot of teams last weekend, the ax started falling around the country Sunday, including at Auburn where Gene Chizik was fired only two seasons after winning a national championship.

And Fisher's name has popped up as a possible replacement for Chizik, but Fisher told reporters on Monday that he doesn't plan on leaving Florida State.

"I'm committed to this football program and these guys," Fisher said.

Unless a premier college football coaching job opens (Texas and USC), I'm not sure there's any job that Fisher should leave Florida State for.

I certainly wouldn't leave Florida State for Auburn. Ignoring the fact Auburn just fired a coach two years removed from a national championship, there's also an NCAA investigation reportedly going on at the school. Then there's also Nick Saban just down the road at Alabama, and that program is light years ahead of Auburn at the moment, especially if the Tide's 49-0 win over Auburn this past Saturday is any indication.

Florida State is just the smarter option right now.
