That's an image from Virginia Tech's equipment room Twitter account* tweeted out on Wednesday morning, showing the helmets the Hokies will wear against Rutgers in the Russell Athletic Bowl. As you can see, the helmet is maroon with a matte finish.
The question is whether Virginia Tech will be going without its traditional logo on the helmets during the game. Personally, I think it makes more sense to leave the helmet blank.
If you put the logo on it, it just becomes a matte helmet, which, big deal. Everybody has matte helmets these days. However, leaving it blank would actually be something different.
*So equipment rooms have Twitter accounts. Virginia Tech isn't the first, but seriously, equipment rooms have Twitter accounts. How have we not been flooded by old jockstrap photos?
