Michigan State's Le'Veon Bell to enter NFL Draft

One of the biggest roadblocks for Michigan State in 2012 was the fact it had to replace so many playmakers on offense that left after the 2011 season. In 2013, the Spartans offense will look to be replacing the only playmaker it had in 2012.

According to his mentor, Donis Toler, running back Le'Veon Bell informed coach Mark Dantonio on Wednesday that he was leaving school to enter the NFL Draft and has hired an agent.

"He's all in," Toler told "I talked to Coach D last night, and it's tough. Obviously, there are pros and cons, but a young man had to make a choice that's best for him and his family, so that's the most important thing.

"Upset's not a good word to use, but he (Dantonio) was taken aback a little bit. He thought he had a good chance of Le'Veon coming back."

And it's not hard to believe Dantonio would be hoping Bell returned next season. Bell's 1,960 total yards accounted for 42 percent of Michigan State's total yards in 2012. The Spartans scored 27 touchdowns in 13 games. Bell was responsible for 13 -- 48 percent -- of them. Obviously, losing Bell is a big loss.

To further his importance to the offense, Bell led Michigan State with 382 carries this season. Nick Hill was second on the team in carries. He had 21 carries. With Bell leaving, odds are Hill will be getting a lot more next season.

Making matters worse for the Spartans, junior tight end Dion Sims is reportedly leaving school for the NFL Draft as well. Sims was the team's third-leading receiver with 36 receptions for 476 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Bell is projected to be a third- or fourth-round pick in the NFL Draft.
