Alabama unanimous No. 1 in both polls; five SEC teams in final top 10

To no one's surprise, Alabama is a unanimous No. 1 in both polls following the Crimson Tide's resounding 42-14 romp over Notre Dame in the BCS title game.

The Tide collected all 59 first-place votes in the AP and all 56 in the Coaches poll to win its third national title in four years.

While Alabama was deemed the best team, the SEC was deemed the best conference as it placed five teams in the top 10 and seven in the top 25.

There was some variation between the two rankings as undefeated Ohio State finished third in the AP but was not included in the Coaches poll due to NCAA probation.

Oregon finished second in both rankings, its best finish since the 2001 season. Notre Dame dropped to third in the Coaches poll and to fourth in the AP, behind the Buckeyes.

Georgia was the highest-ranked two-loss team, placing fifth in both polls (it actually tied with Texas A&M for fifth in the AP).

The Big Ten had four teams in the rankings, while the Big 12 and Pac-12 had three, and the ACC and Big East had two.
