North Carolina State cornerback David Amerson is forgoing his senior season to enter the NFL Draft, according to a report from ESPN.com.

Entering the 2012 season Amerson was widely considered one of the best cornerbacks in college football. That tends to happen when you finish the previous season with 13 interceptions. Then the 2012 season began and Amerson had a very bad night on national television against Tennessee in the first game.

Amerson's season would improve from there, but his numbers did not equal his 2011 output. He finished 2012 with five interceptions -- one of which he returned for a touchdown -- 12 passes broken up and 61 tackles.

He is currently projected as a second- or third-round pick.
