The "What Went Right, What Went Wrong" series is reaching the final stages as Chris Huston (@HeismanPundit) joins me for a final word on the Pac-12. We run through the highlights and lowlights for every team in the conference, as well as what the team can build on looking ahead to 2013.

We kick off the podcast with an unintentional conference overview. Somehow an ad-libbed intro led to four minutes of discussing the quality of coaching in the Pac-12. After that we dive into the standings to recap the season that was one last time. From the Rose Bowl champions at Stanford to struggling teams like Washington State and Colorado, every team has something to improve on and some reason to look forward to 2013.

Check the contents below for specific topics, or download the entire podcast from iTunes for the authentic long play feel.

0:00 -- A few minutes on the upward trajectory of Pac-12 football in general, with the major reason for hope being the coaches.

4:15 -- David Shaw's fearlessness to shuffle quarterbacks helped trigger Stanford's Rose Bowl run, but Chris argues the decision might have been a few games late.

09:20 -- Marcus Mariota was more of a passer than his predecessors, and his development led to arguably one of the best Oregon offenses in Chip Kelly's tenure.

12:00 -- Oregon State overcame adversity to become a Pac-12 contender, but depth issues caught up with the Beavers late in the season.

14:50 -- Chris points to the offensive line and defensive line as reasons why a talented Washington team failed to compete for a Pac-12 North title. Also, are the Huskies suffering from offensive schizophrenia?

18:00 -- Offensive woes, head-scratching personnel decisions, and the eventual coaching change. An odd year for Cal football.

21:10 -- Washington State was very disappointing on and off the field. Hopefully the Marquess Wilson drama is behind us and another class of Mike Leach recruits will result in a more focused 2013.

23:00 -- Chris says UCLA had a "wildly successful" season, and Jim Mora accomplished the most important goal: change the culture.

27:15 -- USC had all the tools needed for offensive dominance. What happened?

29:15 -- The schedule helped, but there are few complaints about Todd Graham's first season with Arizona State. We credit Taylor Kelly for a productive offense, and look forward to more seasons with him under center.

30:45 -- Arizona was a fun and explosive team to watch in 2012, and with 10 returning starters on defense in 2013 there could be enough improvement to add a few wins to its total from Year 1 under Rich Rodriguez.

33:30 -- You really, really need good quarterback play to survive in Pac-12 conference play. Utah's instability at the position throughout the season reinforced that theory in 2012.

37:15 -- While there was not much that went right for Colorado -- Chris says the Buffs were the worst Pac-12 team since the 2008 Washington State Cougars -- but the hire of Mike MacIntyre might be the fix the program needs.

39:15 -- Chris gives his Power 5 for the Pac-12 heading into 2013.
