Boise State and San Diego State made a decision to return to the Mountain West instead of joining the Big East. That decision, along with the addition of San Jose State and Utah State from the WAC (RIP), gives the Mountain West a very intriguing schedule for 2013.
The league released the full conference schedule Thursday, completing the FBS schedule for the fall. Each Mountain West team will play five division opponents and three cross-division opponents in the eight-game conference schedule. On Dec. 7, the Mountain Division (Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, New Mexico, Utah State, Wyoming) winner will play the winner of the West Division (Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV) in the inaugural Mountain West Football Championship Game. The game will be hosted by the team with the highest BCS ranking -- similar to the current Pac-12 model.
The conference schedule opens with a primetime meeting of Air Force and Boise State on Sept. 13. I don't know about you, but we're excited about the Smurf Turf under the lights on Friday the 13th. Check out the full schedule below. Aug. 29 is approaching.
