In 2012, Florida State was able to capture its first ACC title since 2005 and first BCS bowl win since claiming the national championship in the 1999 season. Is Florida State "back," or are they just getting started on a new era of Seminoles football?

Coley Harvey, Florida State writer for the Orlando Sentinel, returns to the Eye On College Football Podcast to recap spring practice in Tallahassee. We discuss the aforementioned topic, along with how six new assistant coaches have brought a more aggressive, "SEC-style" attitude to the Seminoles' practices.

According to Coley, new defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt has been installing new concepts similar to the ones at Alabama, where he coached defensive backs 2010-12. Instead of relying on pressure from the defensive line -- which worked with NFL-caliber linemen like Bjoern Werner and Tank Carradine, the Seminoles' defense is expected to show much more blitzing from the linebackers and defensive backs in 2013.

Coley and I also discuss the quarterback competition, which took an interesting turn in Saturday's spring game. Redshirt freshman Jameis Winston has been splitting time between spring practice and Florida State's top-10 baseball team, but he looked ready during his brief stint in Saturday's Garnet-Gold game. The competition will extend into the spring and fall camp, but Coley gives Winston an edge over redshirt junior Clint Trickett.

Be sure to follow all of Coley's covering of Florida State for the Sentinel at The Chopping Block. You can check him on Twitter as well @os_coleyharvey.
